8035. Began the next Labelwriter 9.1 upgrade, implementing assignment of default values for state, zone and custodian code and name during importing of centers.

8046. Implemented automatic creation of missing centers during candidate import in Labelwriter and modified the options form to give the user control of the default assignments feature. Investigated and resolved the cause of why despite allowing the user to specify alternative centers for missing ones in the last version, candidates for those centers still got excluded from label processing. Uploaded the installer to the server and sent client the download link.

8050. Worked on the new comprehensive center box listing report in Labelwriter from design to implementation, testing and uploading to the server and emailing users the download link.

8105. Worked on data files sent by Labelwriter user, and identified why the default name was given to all centers processed rather than their real ones, because the updating of imported centers had failed with an error message. Rectified the cause of failure and sent user another update installer.

8131. Began enhancing the Spin and Win Advisor in Randomizer, adding a third bet distribution based on actual winning amount ratios for numbers in the database and also storing the results in a table so that time-consuming calculations for high-stake amounts were no longer repeated. Bet9ja submenu

8142. Worked on Randomizer, implementing the Spin and Win bets data entry spreadsheet window, in the process reorganizing the application menu so that Bet9ja items were in their own submenu.

8153. Concluded initial implementation of the Spin and Win data entry window in Randomizer, viewing the live data earlier transferred from spreadsheet to database in it. Bet9ja submenu

8164. Added a Spin and Win summary display to the Bet9ja submenu and included filtering option on the Bets window. Labelwriter user emailed about another error situation occurring while importing centers and we replied with the steps to work around it; user emailed again hours later admitting the instructions provided worked but noting that states outside of a chosen zone wrongly got processed, which we’d need to look into.

8175. Revised Labelwriter to take care of some issues user had raised, the custodian-not-found message during center import, getting accurate results only when processing as first job and not the other six possible jobs, and processing of none-zone states.

8186. Concluded the next revision work on Labelwriter, uploaded to our server and sent client the download link and summary of what was covered. We identified and resolved the inclusion of states outside a selected zone which happened if the candidate list for such state was imported before the last state of the zone. Checked out the VPN feature of Opera browser while in private browsing mode my, seeing the IP being changed to something else: Afterward YouTube indicated a location in Ukraine of all places and showed videos with Ukrainian titles along with a handful of English titles.

8201. The visit to Academy Press Plc to work on Printwiser Estimating server installation on a Windows 7 PC wasn’t as short as we thought it’d be, as the issues were more complicated than the last time Printwiser Planning server was installed and so took longer to resolve: They didn’t just change the OS on the Estimating server PC from XP to Windows 7; they had wrongly installed a Microsoft SQL Server ODBC data source name that conflicted with the right one for Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere; due to an issue with the database, Printwiser automatically logged out on startup; and finally the former Windows XP server still had the Printwiser database up and running, creating conflicts with the installation on the new Windows 7 server. Later installed the Flashgot downloader add-on for the SeaMonkey browser and used it to download a YouTube video, but the media players we had on the computer couldn’t play the downloaded MP4 file properly, some wouldn’t play it at all, like Microsoft’s Windows Media Player, while The KMPlayer played it with neither sound nor motion and it was only The Final Media Player that showed the video but without sound.

8212. Tried several approaches to getting a playable local version of the YouTube video, installing another SeaMonkey add-on called Complete YouTube Saver and hours later the Windows executable of the FFmpeg software that it needed, installing an old version of VLC media player and later upgrading it, downloading and installing RealPlayer, trying using mobile UC Browser’s YouTube video download feature—and what finally worked was using VLC to combine the separate audio (WEBM) and video (MP4) files downloaded yesterday by Flashgot into one MP4 file, a very slow process that took at least 30 minutes for the 14-minute video.

8245. For Labelwriter we set up a shortcut to start the database with more cache memory and sent client the installer. Live-tested Bet9ja’s Spin and Win, using Randomizer to record the bets for the first time—which was faster than using the spreadsheet—and noting improvements to be implemented.

8256. Enhanced the new Spin and Win List in Randomizer based on observations while live testing for direct data entry: Ensuring the total stake, win and profit were recalculated under more conditions, like when an individual stake amount was altered or the free spin status was changed from Yes to No.

8282. Came across a discussion of downloading YouTube videos on Nairaland, later ended up reading about Keepvid and researching some more on the subject, installing a couple of the solutions we saw and actually using one called Apowersoft Visual Download Capture to download some YouTube videos.

8293. Began implementing a speed boost for phone call data entry in MBDM so the call duration could be entered in seconds and be automatically split into minutes and seconds when necessary.

8304. Completed the phone call data entry revision in MBDM so henceforth no more breaking up big seconds values into minutes and seconds before entry. Also made the first MBTM revision this year, using three decimal places instead of two for the hours quantity when generating a project time bill. Began looking into an MBGL issue of some batch transactions not being saved properly at certain times.

8315. Completed debugging of MBGL to resolve an occasional data loss situation that occurred if the user failed to update the form before closing the window, or moved to a different transaction; the application would attempt an automatic update but would not succeed if one of the user’s detail entries had a missing value.

Summary

The next Labelwriter 9.1 upgrade was implemented, including comprehensive center box listing report among other enhancements. On-site technical support was provided for Printwiser Estimating client. MR-Randomizer’s application menu was restructured, with new Spin and Win features including bets data entry. The GL, Data Manager and Time Manager modules of MoneyBooks were revised.
